NYC PowerShell User Group - 9/9/2013 - Desired State Configuration and WMI Eventing
Our favorite time of year. Time to kick off a new season of PowerShell chit chat in NYC!
Topic: Desired State Configuration (DSC)
PowerShell 4.0 is in public preview, and Desired State Configuration is the game-changing feature that has come out of it. DSC is built on top of PowerShell and Remoting, and it provides a way to configure servers using configuration files natively in a similar fashion to how you can with Puppet and Chef. Join Tome has he discusses what DSC is, how it is used, and how to create custom configurations using PowerShell scripts. Whether you are a developer looking for new ways to deploy your code to Windows or an IT Pro who is responsible for managing the configurations of Windows servers, you will want to learn about how this new feature works.
