I just moved down to Charleston South Carolina and wanted to get in a powershell group to get more of an understand of it and to learn off of others. When I looked on the site I saw that there was no group meeting in Charleston, so I wanted to see if I could start my own group here in Charleston. I still go to college and have a year or so left until I graduate, but will still be staying in the area. There are alot of opportunties here in Charleston since the IT growth has grown tremendous.
This event will be hosted at the new office of Microsoft in Times Square!
We have quite the lineup in store. Our founder and leader Tome Tanasovski will be presenting all three of the sessions that he will be presenting at the PowerShell Summit later this month.
Parallel Execution with PowerShell
For the hardcore scripter working in large enterprises or on time-sensitive scripts, it is important to understand what options are available to you in order to take advantage of all of the processing power on a machine. We'll explore what is built in to PowerShell, what is native to the .NET language, and a few other techniques that can help you turn your 8-hour script into a 30-minute script
Intro to GIT and GitHub
Git and Github are not Windows PowerShell, but they are essential to distributed development in today's day and age. Learn why there are so many github projects, how you can start your own project, and how you can contribute to existing projects. Whether you are an IT Pro or a developer, you should be using source control even if you are working alone. However, if you are working with a team of people who you want to enable as direct editors to your code, it is essential. Find out how easy it is to allow others to clone, modify, and either push changes or request that their changes get added to your code base using the git binaries and Windows PowerShell.
Tome is an executive for a market-leading global financial services firm in New York City where he focuses on automation, private cloud, and distributed computing. He is the founder and leader of the New York City PowerShell User group, a blogger, and speaks regularly at conferences and user groups. In 2011 he became a cofounder of the NYC Techstravaganza, coauthored the Windows PowerShell Bible, and received the title of Honorary Scripting Guy from the Hey Scripting Guy! blog. Tome has also received the MVP award from Microsoft for the last four years in Windows PowerShell.

This month's virtual user group presentation will be about creating and packaging PowerShell modules!
PowerShell MVP Joel Bennett (yes, that's me) will present about authoring PowerShell modules, including tips, tricks and best practices for writing modules and functions that work well together (and behave properly in the pipeline).
We will also take a look at the new PoshCode module packaging module: a powerful new way to distribute, install, and rely on dependencies between PowerShell modules.
The Calgary Powershell User Group has been formed to build a vibrant local community of Powershell enthusiasts in the Calgary (Canada) area.
The idea is to grow this group into a fun and educative forum for learning and discussing PowerShell as a tool for managing various IT environments. Whether you are a System Administrator, Developers, DBA, an expert or new user of Powershell - and you are in the Calgary area - you are invited to contribute to, and learn from, this group.
I'm going to do the presentation this month for the Virtual PowerShell UserGroup, so it's a perfect opportunity for us to actually meet together in person here in Rochester.
However, if there are only a few people who want to come in person (or if the majority would prefer), I'd rather do a geek dinner on another night, and have time to chat and socialize and answer questions!
So, what do you think?
Hi there! 2nd session of PowerShell User Group Japan will be held in Osaka on 12th April 2014. The session will with Waka-san the man who really likes PowerShell in Osaka.
I've introduce invitation page at metrostyledev.net here, http://powershell.metrostyledev.net/index.php/seminar/20140412/ . Let's join us and have a fun with Scripting!!
Mr. Mutaguchi, the Microsoft MVP for Windows PowerShell. also have a session for beginner.
Sorry for the late notice here! I posted this last month to Google+ Events, and thought I'd posted it here, but clearly didn't. If you didn't already get a G+ event invite, please feel free to email me (Jaykul) at HuddledMasses.org and ask me to add you to that list.
In any case, this Thursday, March 6th, is this month's Rochester PowerShell User Group, and it will once again be purely virtual (next month we'll try to meet in person, I have a car again now).
